Added-value products
To make easier the geophysical interpretation of MOZAIC-IAGOS observations,
added-value products are available. These products are mainly derived
from ECMWF analyses and contain informations on the height of the tropopause and on history of air masses sampled along the aircraft trajectory. Two kind of files are available:
- Tyyyymmddnnp files contain:
- MOZAIC averaged data
- Potential vorticity (pvu) at the aircraft position
- Pressure of the dynamical tropopause given by the pressure of several
potential vorticity values (1.5, 2., 3. and 4 pvu) along the vertical line at the
aircraft position
- Reconstructed PV (pvu)
- MOZAIC averaged data
- BTyyyymmddnnp files contain
- MOZAIC raw data
- Potential vorticity (pvu) at the aircraft position
- Pressure of the dynamical tropopause given by the pressure of several
potential vorticity values (1.5, 2., 3., 4., 6. and 8 pvu) along the vertical line at the
aircraft position
- As above but for the height of the dynamical tropopause
- Time history of air masses sampled along the aircraft trajectory, as summarized by the characteristics of 5 clusters of backward air trajectories of thousands of air parcels representing the observation. Clusters are described every 12 hours during 3 days of backward trajectory. Characteristics include:
- latitude of the cluster
- longitude of the cluster
- pressure of the cluster
- potential vorticity at the position of the cluster
- percentage of initial air parcels in the cluster
- latitude of the cluster
- MOZAIC raw data
The Lagrangian model used for BT files is the Lagrangian dispersion model Flexpart Version 8.0 by Stohl et al. (Atmos. Chem. Phys., 5, 2461-2474, 2005).
